August 29 to September 2, those were the days the students of Philippine Normal University wouldn't forget. That event made the University busy as the usual thing but this time, busy because of the excitement it brought. It was the Intramurals 2005. The PNUans thought it would just be another year like the one that happened last year. This year, the event changed the perception of all, everything was now visible to everyone. The intramurals kept the university going with the set of activities that was planned. There were a lot of preparations everyone did: from cheering practices to pillar-making and many more. The opening of the intramurals were as lively as everyone did. There were noise, stands and scene-stealing activities all over the place. Games like basketball and volleyball were also started. Each Department Based Organization (DBO) showed their potentials in each sport. During the games, aside from the cheerers in each DBO perform every half-time in basketball, loud cheers coming from their supporters were heard all over the court. It made the whole game exciting and lively. For the following days, the activities were followed by “laro ng lahi”, “agawan ng biik”, concerts (from Cueshe, Hale and Ms. Kitchie Nadal), battle of the bands, seminars, exhibits and the most awaited, the cheering competition. Like the previous year, the gymnasium was again jam packed. Each DBO showed their best in cheering and competed with the other DBOs to know who would be the most outstanding team. Everyone, indeed, prepared for this. And they even spent, not just time, effort and money but also money. Each DBO truly showed their determination in winning this competition. This memorable event was concluded by the annual Mr. And Ms. Intramurals. Again the battle of beauty and wit made so many PNUans watch the said pageant. Up to this event, cheers were still audible around the gymnasium were the pageant was held. It ended late at night. The week made most of the PNUans stressed. Even though everyone gave their utmost support in letting the event successful, it was a worthwhile one, however. This event for once made the PNUans forgot for at least a week all the work they have in their academic field. This event made them feel that the life of a student doesn't always happen in the four corners of a classroom together with the books and all that. It should be always accompanied by extra-curricular activities to make their stay here in this University fruitful. (By Jonell Dimaculangan II-BSCT)
